Faced with the current situation in the Ukraine, solidarity and mutual aid are more essential than ever.

Santé Services, with the help of the Hôpitaux Robert Schuman, will participate in and support all initiatives of the Luxembourg hospital sector in favor of the Ukraine. In addition, we will support all initiatives carried out by the association of the Ukrainian community in Luxembourg LUkraine asbl.

Thus, to the following actions:

  • Santé Services in partnership with POST Logistics will voluntarily ensure the logistical coordination of the management of the donations collected by the association.
  • Santé Services is organizing the immediate shipment of 50 pallets with basic necessities to Ukraine.

These surgical masks are specially sized to fit children. In addition to a bacterial filtration efficiency of over 98%, they meet the EN14683+AC:2019 standard.

Following the Covid-19 crisis, the Hôpitaux Robert Schuman set about becoming its own supplier by commissioning Santé Services to set up a production line for protective masks. The first production line, currently operational, produces 20,000 surgical masks per day. A production line for FFP2 masks is also being organized.

Santé Services and the Hôpitaux Robert Schuman would particularly like to thank the Ministry of the Middle Classes for their valuable support in this project.

Yesterday afternoon, the inauguration of the protective mask machine of the Hôpitaux Robert Schuman and Santé Services was held in the presence of the Prime Minister Xavier Bettel and the Minister for the Middle Classes.

On the program:

  • Discussion with the representatives of Santé Services and Hôpitaux Robert Schuman on the initiative of this project

La start-up Molecular Plasma Group a trouvé le moyen d’intégrer une fine couche de virucide sur des surfaces à usage unique. Le covid déteste, les soignants apprécient par contre…
Deltrian à Fleurus (Belgique) et Family Invest à Niederkorn n’avaient pour l’instant qu’un point commun. Les deux firmes produisaient des masques chirurgicaux. A compter de début mars, une autre similitude les reliera : les deux fabriques disposeront d’une des toutes dernières machines sorties de l’atelier de Molecular Plasma Group (MPG). Idem dans peu de temps pour ECA Med en Flandres. Un nouveau pas pour cette PME luxembourgeoise. Un nouveau pas, surtout, dans la lutte contre le coronavirus.
Pas de doute, la firme a vite réussi son entrée dans le monde des HealthTech. «Ce qui, au départ en 2016, n’était pas vraiment notre ADN, sourit le directeur général Marc Jacobs. Notre milieu, c’était plutôt l’industrie, enfin l’industrie high-tech tout de même.» Il est vrai que tout le monde n’a pas le groupe Ariane Espace, Heineken ou Samsonite dans son portefeuille-clients…  Le ”truc” de MPG tient en un mot : plasma, cet état physique atteint quand la matière est partiellement ou totalement ionisée.
En clair, les scientifiques et techniciens de MPG rassemblés au Technoport de Foetz ont développé une technologie permettant de greffer des couches extrêmement fines de certaines molécules sur n’importe quel support. «Je dis bien ”greffer” pas asperger, c’est différent. Nous réussissons à fixer sur des matières des éléments chimiques efficaces qui font quelques dizaines de nanomètres.» Soit approximativement l’épaisseur d’un millième de cheveu humain. Tout cela grâce à un plasma produit à température ambiante, un autre exploit technologique.
Jusqu’alors, ce savoir-faire avait trouvé des applications auprès de fabricants de vitres pour automobiles ou pour un industriel souhaitant coller un film Teflon sans traitement chimique par exemple. Il suffisait juste de passer à l’étape suivante. Plutôt que de concevoir des machines capables d’introduire des molécules sensibles sans les détruire à des substrats, pourquoi ne pas tenter de faire de même avec des anticorps? Les cerveaux de Molecular Plasma Group y ont réfléchi en collaboration avec des chercheurs de l’Université de Louvain, et ont fini par trouver un procédé. Juste au moment où débutait une certaine pandémie mondiale…

Désormais sur papier, tissu, film plastique ou blouses en Tyvek, la technologie MPG est capable d’intégrer, par exemple, de l’acide citrique. Le plus naturel des virucides, «une chimie simple et sans risque pour laquelle nous avons pu compter avec l’appui du LIST (Luxembourg Institute of health)», note Marc Jacobs. Un CEO qui a donc su convaincre des usines spécialisées dans les masques chirurgicaux de faire appel aux machines made in Foetz.

Car si toutes ces protections faisaient jusque-là barrage à l’intrusion des virus, elles ne les tuaient pas. «Avec le procédé que nous avons mis au point et les machines que nous concevons, il y a la double fonction.» Et voilà qui rassure terriblement les soignants en contact permanent avec l’infection. «D’autant que les produits ne perdent rien de ce qui faisait leur qualité avant comme la respirabilité car la couche greffée est microscopique mais hyper efficace.»

Et maintenant? «La prochaine étape consistera à concevoir des systèmes de greffe capable d’agir sur de plus grandes surfaces. Passer d’une bande de 40 cm à 1,60m par exemple», pointe Marc Jacobs. L’idée étant notamment de pouvoir équiper des usines sortant des blouses de protection pour infirmiers ou médecins.

Pas mal pour une petite société qui, en 2018, prenait son envol grâce au soutien du programme Fit4Start et qui, cette fois, a pu compter sur un financement du ministère de l’Economie dans le cadre de la loi RDI-Covid.
